Welcome to the battle!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog which is dedicated to certain anime and video games which feature girls using guns, tanks or anything else that I feel fits in with the theme of this blog. I wouldn't take the whole 'girls of war' title too seriously. Either way I hope you enjoy your stay here! Take care!

Princess Principal

“Princess Principal’ is, in my opinion, a really fun anime to watch. Not only do we get to see the girls in this show pull off some really remarkable feats, but they are all actually pretty cute in their own way. However, it would be a mistake to dismiss this show as simply a ‘cute girls doing cute things’ anime.

Oh and before we get into the synopsis. You should know that ‘Princess Principal’ had a crossover with ‘Girls und Panzer’.

So with that said let’s talk about ‘Princess Principal’.

‘Princess Principal’ tells the story of a group of spies who call themselves ‘White Pigeons’. The girls carry out various missions for the ‘Commonwealth’. The main mission the ‘Commonwealth’ want to pull off, is called ‘Operation Changeling’ where a girl named Ange, would take the place of Princess Charlotte.

During one such mission, Ange’s cover is blown by the princess herself who wants to join the ‘Commonwealth’ and work as a spy.

Like I mentioned above. Each of the girls are cute, but it would be a mistake to dismiss this anime because of that. Surprisingly enough, this anime has some sad/shocking moments in it. I won’t spoil what those moments actually are, but this anime is fun to watch.

So the reason why the ‘Commonwealth’ is at war with the ‘Kingdom of Albion’ is  because of the inequality and poverty the kingdom creates. Also the ‘Kingdom of Albion’ has a monopoly on something called ‘Cavorite’ which is used to create giant flying battleships.

Now I’m not entirely sure where ‘Cavorite’ comes from in this anime, or how it was discovered, but it is actually based on a book ‘H.G. Wells’ wrote.

The mission the girls go on vary. Sometimes it involves dealing with people who want to defect, or going undercover at a laundry. Every time the girls go undercover, they have to adopt a new disguise.

Ange is one of the girls who’s apart of ‘White Pigeon’. She’s very talented using guns and also carries around a ‘cavorite ball’, which allows her to make herself weightless. When she activates the ball, she can jump really high, float, or lift things much heavier than she is. Also Ange likes to tell people she’s from the ‘black lizard planet’. The reason for this is never explained.

Princess Charlotte is, of course, the princess. Princess is actually a really sweet girl. Even though she’s nice and everything, she’s also pretty stubborn. The princess has a habit of trying to put herself in danger. Not only that, but Charlotte also looks a lot like Ange.

Dorothy is the oldest of the girls. She drinks, uses her feminine wiles to distract people or get her way with men. She’s also not that strict when it comes to her work as a spy. She and Ange have known each other for some time.

Then we have Beatrice. Beatrice severs as the Princess’s aide and friend. Beatrice is very loyal to the Princess and doesn’t trust the spies who the princess wants to work with. Beatrice has the ability to mimic other people’s voices. I can’t say why, but it’s actually pretty disturbing.

Finally we have Chise. Chise comes from Japan. Basically she acts as an observer of the ‘Commonwealth’ spies. She does go on missions with the girls as well. Chise is really great with a katana. Chise feels like a ‘fish out of water’ character.

And those are all the characters I want to discuss. There are more I could bring up, but those five are the only ones who are in ‘White Pigeon’.

Each episode, until the very last two, involve the girls going on random missions. The funny thing is, the episodes are kind of mixed up. The first episode takes place in the future, after the ‘White Pigeons’ are a team. Then it goes back to when the girls first meet each other, then there’s an episode where the girls are all acquainted with each other, before going back in time and showing us how the girls met Chise.

It’s an odd choice, but I’m not complaining.

So with all that said, I recommend checking out this anime! It has three OVA’s called ‘Crown Handler’ and I plan on talking about those as well!

Thanks for reading!
Take care!
