Welcome to the battle!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog which is dedicated to certain anime and video games which feature girls using guns, tanks or anything else that I feel fits in with the theme of this blog. I wouldn't take the whole 'girls of war' title too seriously. Either way I hope you enjoy your stay here! Take care!

Princess Principal Crown Handler- CHAPTER 3

So this is one of those anime’s that I’ve been really excited about watching. The way the second chapter ended, I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next. Unfortunately Chapter 3 leaves me excited for the 4th chapter and who knows how long that’s going to take to come out!

So with that said, let’s talk about ‘Chapter 3’ or ‘Princess Principal Crow Handler’.

‘Princess Principal Crown Handler- CHAPTER 3’ beings after the murder of the crown prince. Now Prince Richard wants Princess to support him. Meanwhile Princess Mary is being prepped to become the next queen of the kingdom.

Like I mentioned above, I was really excited about watching this film. I didn’t look up any information about it and had no idea how it would end. With that said, I actually thought this movie would be the end of the ‘Crown Handler’ series. A fourth film was actually announced not that long ago, so I thought that would be a brand new story. I won’t spoil anything here, but I was very wrong!

A majority of this film actually takes place in the castle of the kingdom. After the crown prince is killed, everything is on lock down. The princess moves back into the castle and is shortly joined by the other members of the ‘Principal Team’. Everyone except Chise.

This film mostly focuses on Princess Mary and her harsh treatment. Other than that, this movie is about waiting. Waiting for the princess to make up her mind about Prince Richard.

Oh and when I mentioned Princess Mary’s harsh treatment, I was mostly talking about how she’s forced to study all the time. Thankfully she has the princess to help relieve her stress, plus the other girls from the ‘Principal Team’.

In my last blog post when I talked about 'Chapter 2' of 'Crown Handler', I mentioned that I was able to figure a few things out. Well the thing I was talking about before involved 'Prince Richard'. I actually figured out that he was probably scheming something and he was working with the assassin who shot him. The reason why I came to that conclusion is simply because the assassin missed 'Prince Richard's' head.

I know that sounds weird, but if you re-watch the assassination attempt on 'Prince Richard's' life and then watch the fight between him and Ange plus Chise, you'll see what I mean! Oh and the only reason I'm bringing this up now is because of the ending of the second movie.

With all that said, this movie didn’t have a lot of action in it. Besides the girls infiltrating the castle as maids, they didn’t really do a lot of ‘spy’ things. Also there was hardly any action in this film at all.

Of course I’m not complaining! I really enjoyed this movie and the ending is making me more and more excited about the next film to come out!

With that said, I recommend checking out this movie!

Princess Principal Crown Handler- CHAPTER 2

I have a small confession to make. I’ve never actually watched ‘Princess Principal Crown Handler Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 back to back before. The reason I’m bringing this up, is because for the first time I’ve actually noticed the connections between the two films besides just flashbacks.

So with that said let’s talk about this movie!

‘Princess Principal Crown Handler- CHAPTER 2’ begins with prince Richard getting shot. We also see a giant Cavorite bomb being set off in the ocean. Later on we learn that three of the Cavorite bombs had been stolen and the ‘Principal Team’ are tasked with finding them.

Honestly this movie has a lot going on with it, but at the same time its all connected. I’m actually pretty proud in saying that I was able to figure a few things out for myself, but they might have been pretty obvious from the start. I know that probably doesn’t make any sense, but I feel like being proud for figuring some things out.

So ’Prince Edward’ is actually someone we haven’t seen in the series or first film yet. Him being shot doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the Cavorite bombs being stolen.

The Carorite bombs, incase anyone is wondering, is the same thing that Ange uses in order to make herself and other things weightless. To be honest, I’m not sure why Ange is the only one who has one of those Cavorite orbs anyways.

So after we find out the Cavorite bombs were stolen and hidden in the kingdom, that’s where ’Team Principal’ are ordered to find them. This task isn’t made easy of course.

One thing that I noticed while watching the show and first movie, is the fact that the girls are pretty talented. Ange is great in a fight and so is Chise. However, they actually met their match in this film. Honestly there’s not much I can say about this man. He’s really talented and gave Chise a run for her money.

As for that ’dragon fight’ I mentioned above. I can’t really spoil what that’s about, but it’s pretty unexpected.

So with that said I’m going to go ahead and end this blog post. I want to mention what I was right about when it came to this movie, but that would involve spoilers. I’ll actually mention what I was talking about when I talk about ‘Princess Principal Crown Handler- CHAPTER 3’. I don’t currently have that movie, but it’s in the mail as of writing this! I can’t wait to see it!

Thanks for reading everyone!
Take care

Princess Principal Crown Handler- CHAPTER 1

After watching the first season of ‘Princess Principal’, I was pretty excited for even more adventures involving the ‘principal team’. Though I was a little worried that the team would be officially broken up thanks to the events of the final episodes of the show. Thankfully Ange, Princess, Dorothy, Beatrice and Chise are all still together!

So let’s talk about this movie!

‘Princess Principal Crown Handler- CHAPTER 1’ is about the ‘Principal Team’ being brought in to uncover the identity of a mole living in the castle. The mole is quickly uncovered and it turns out his name is ‘Bishop’ and he’s the queens chamberlain. After making contact Ange is surprised to learn that Bishop already knows Ange’s true identity. Now the girls must work for Bishop while uncovering his ‘secret’.

So the first thing I want to mention is how this film starts. We see a man getting arrested and then he gets broken out of jail thanks to the ‘Principal Team’. I really love how they go about doing it as well. I won’t spoil what happens exactly, but it’s actually the only real ‘action’ sequence we get in the entire film.

That’s not a complaint either. I actually love the cat and mouse game that takes place during this movie. Watching the girls do their usual espionage thing, making contact with the mole only to have the rug pulled out from underneath them is pretty exciting.

What really makes this whole ‘rug pull’ thing even more interesting and exciting, is the fact that Bishop pretty much holds all the cards from the very start. Not only is he the mole the girls are looking for, but he’s also got a very big ‘secret’ that the girls are looking for. To make matters worse, he even uncovers everyone’s identities.

We also learn that Ange and Princess both have sentimental feelings when it comes to Bishop. I’m not spy myself, but I’m guessing sentiments for other spies isn’t a good thing.

Still with that said, there are some really fun moments in this movie. The action scene at the very beginning was fun. There was a pretty fun moment involving Chise driving and I also loved how unexcited everyone was when they had to go through old newspapers and books looking for things.

So with all that said, I do recommend checking out this movie! Especially if you’re a fan of the first series.

Thanks for reading everyone!

GIRLS und PANZER der Film

The ‘GIRLS und PANZER’ movie is probably one of my most favorite films of all time. I’ve actually watched this movie a dozen times, maybe even more. Sometimes I’ll just feel like popping this film into my blu-ray player and watching all of it. Of course the same could be said for the entire series.

So let’s just get started and talk about it!

‘GIRLS und PANZER der Film’ begins with ‘Oarai’ tankery girls in a battle with ‘Pravda’ and ‘St. Gloriana’. ‘Oarai’ is battling along side ‘Chi Hatan’. Later, after the match, all the girls are informed that ‘Oarai’ would be shutting down. All the girls are confused, considering they had won the tournament not that long ago. With the school shut down, the girls of ‘Oarai’ are given one more shot to keep their school open. They must defeat an ‘All-Stars University Team’.

When this anime first starts, we actually see the girls from ‘Oarai’ in battle along side a new tankery team called ‘Chi Hatan’. I call them ‘new’, simply because I don’t remember them being named in the first season of the show, but I could have missed that.

Anyways these two teams have come together in order to defeat ‘St. Gloriana’ and ‘Pravda’. This match is a friendly one as well.

The funny thing about ‘Chi Hatan’ is the fact that they are obsessed with charging, but because of this most of their forces end up getting blow away. I actually like the girls from ‘Chi Hatan’ because the leader ‘Nishi Kinuyo’, is actually pretty nice. I also like how she listens to the other girls under her command.

The first match we see actually lasts around twenty-minutes in length and I won’t spoil how it ends.

Anyways once the girls finish their match, ‘Oarai’s’ student counsel president is called away. Later it’s revealed that their school is getting shut down. Not only that, but all their tanks were going to be taken as well.

So as the movie continues, the girls do eventually get their tanks back and we see the girls living relatively normal lives. They are stuck at a different school on land. We do learn that Miho is a huge fan of a character named ‘Punchy’ or ‘Boko’ in Japanese. ‘Punchy’ is a bear character who gets beat up a lot, but keeps coming back for more.

This film isn’t actually the first time we hear of ‘Punchy’. We actually see him a few times in the first season (as a stuffed bear), and Miho does mention him during one of the OVA’s. The girls even travel to a ‘Punchy Museum’. While at this museum Miho comes face-to-face with a girl named ‘Alice’.

The reason why I’m bring up Alice, is because after ‘Anzu’ strong arms the MEXT, the girls are told that they have a chance to save their school by battling an ‘All-Star University Team’. I actually love this moment in the anime, because once the MEXT says something about defeating such a team, Anzu pulls out a pen and is ready to write out a contract. Anzu even uses his own words against him.

I’m skipping ahead here, because I do want to talk about my next favorite moment in this film. ‘Oarai’ is told that they have to do something called an ’annihilation’ match, which means that the small amount of tanks they have, would somehow have to defeat thirty of this pro-teams.

My favorite moment actually involves all the other schools that ’Oarai’ had defeated in the past, coming together to help ’Oarai’. Even though the MEXT complained, the only one who could raise an objection was Alice, who was the commander of the ‘All-Star University Team’ and she didn’t do it! She allowed all the tanks to participate. I really love that, because it showed what kind of commander she was.

There really isn’t much to say about the ‘All-Star University Team’ except that they are really good. The commander herself is also really impressive.

I do want to take a moment and talk about ‘Jatkosota’. This team only consists of three girls and one tank. I wasn’t sure what to think about them at first considering their commander, ‘Mika’, doesn’t seem to enjoy tank battles. She’s not the kind of girl who complains, or whine about them, but she also doesn’t seem to enjoy them. She’s also very contradictory. Still when push comes to shove, they are pretty good.

So as you can imagine, I’ve been skipping over several parts of this film. The reason for that is because I want to avoid spoilers as much as possible. This movie is a lot of fun and even though I know how it ends, I always get a bit nervous. Which is weird right?

Still that should tell people how much I enjoy this game. Getting nervous despite knowing how this movie ends, is a good sign that it’s amazing!

I have to recommend checking out these movies! I keep saying it, but they are fun to watch!

Thanks for reading everyone!
Take care!

GIRLS und PANZER- OVA Collection

After I became a huge fan of ‘GIRLS und PANZER’ of course I had to grab everything I possibly could. The OVA collection I want to talk about is one of those many things that I purchased. The only problem with talking about this particular collection is that it’s not really all the OVA’s that had been released. It might have been all the OVA’s released at the time, I’m not sure, but I know there is at least one OVA that hasn’t been released as of writing this.

Another problem that comes with talking about this OVA collection, is that not every OVA actually has a story. Some are information based, while another one features a special song and dance.

So with that said, let’s talk about them!

‘GIRLS und PANZER- OVA Collection’ features the girls of ‘Oarai’ in different situations. One OVA features the girls going out to buy bathing suits, another features them setting up camp and eating BBQ. These OVA’s take place during the main series, with one OVA actually taking place during a battle between ‘Oarai’ and ‘Pravda’.

So like I said. These OVA’s aren’t really telling a story. Most of them are information based, but some are just funny and weird. Of course I enjoy the episodes where the girls are just hanging out and bonding.

For instance in the first episode, we see the girls actually go out and buy new swimsuits. And when I say ‘girls’, I mean everyone in ‘Oarai’ who’s taking tankery. We didn’t actually get a beach episode in the main ‘GIRLS und PANZER’ series, so this episode makes up for it. We see the girls trying out different swimsuits.

Honestly, I’ve never been into swimsuits, but I actually enjoyed seeing some of their choices. This OVA actually leads into another OVA which involves the girls wearing their swimsuits while setting up camp and having a BBQ. They do have an interesting talk about rations.

In another episode we learn the history of school ships, why they exist (or the reason they believe they were made) and also how their giant ship was made. Then we have an OVA called ‘Ankou War’, which just involves showing the girls dance the ‘Anko’ dance. The song that’s sung does have an English version and I actually enjoyed it. The dance though is kind of bad, but I enjoyed it as well.

Finally I want to talk about my favorite OVA ‘Snow War’. This OVA takes place during ‘Episode 9’ of the main series. During this OVA we see what Yukari and Erwin did when they went on reconnaissance. I was honestly surprised how well Yukari and Erwin got along.

I think what makes this OVA so fun for me, is the fact that at some point they dress like ‘Pravda’ students and got information out of another girl.

So with all that said, I do recommend checking out these OVA’s. I know I didn’t talk about all of them and I didn’t go into a lot of detail, but like I said. Some of these are kind of hard to talk about. They are informative and fun to watch though!

Thanks for reading everyone!

Princess Principal

“Princess Principal’ is, in my opinion, a really fun anime to watch. Not only do we get to see the girls in this show pull off some really remarkable feats, but they are all actually pretty cute in their own way. However, it would be a mistake to dismiss this show as simply a ‘cute girls doing cute things’ anime.

Oh and before we get into the synopsis. You should know that ‘Princess Principal’ had a crossover with ‘Girls und Panzer’.

So with that said let’s talk about ‘Princess Principal’.

‘Princess Principal’ tells the story of a group of spies who call themselves ‘White Pigeons’. The girls carry out various missions for the ‘Commonwealth’. The main mission the ‘Commonwealth’ want to pull off, is called ‘Operation Changeling’ where a girl named Ange, would take the place of Princess Charlotte.

During one such mission, Ange’s cover is blown by the princess herself who wants to join the ‘Commonwealth’ and work as a spy.

Like I mentioned above. Each of the girls are cute, but it would be a mistake to dismiss this anime because of that. Surprisingly enough, this anime has some sad/shocking moments in it. I won’t spoil what those moments actually are, but this anime is fun to watch.

So the reason why the ‘Commonwealth’ is at war with the ‘Kingdom of Albion’ is  because of the inequality and poverty the kingdom creates. Also the ‘Kingdom of Albion’ has a monopoly on something called ‘Cavorite’ which is used to create giant flying battleships.

Now I’m not entirely sure where ‘Cavorite’ comes from in this anime, or how it was discovered, but it is actually based on a book ‘H.G. Wells’ wrote.

The mission the girls go on vary. Sometimes it involves dealing with people who want to defect, or going undercover at a laundry. Every time the girls go undercover, they have to adopt a new disguise.

Ange is one of the girls who’s apart of ‘White Pigeon’. She’s very talented using guns and also carries around a ‘cavorite ball’, which allows her to make herself weightless. When she activates the ball, she can jump really high, float, or lift things much heavier than she is. Also Ange likes to tell people she’s from the ‘black lizard planet’. The reason for this is never explained.

Princess Charlotte is, of course, the princess. Princess is actually a really sweet girl. Even though she’s nice and everything, she’s also pretty stubborn. The princess has a habit of trying to put herself in danger. Not only that, but Charlotte also looks a lot like Ange.

Dorothy is the oldest of the girls. She drinks, uses her feminine wiles to distract people or get her way with men. She’s also not that strict when it comes to her work as a spy. She and Ange have known each other for some time.

Then we have Beatrice. Beatrice severs as the Princess’s aide and friend. Beatrice is very loyal to the Princess and doesn’t trust the spies who the princess wants to work with. Beatrice has the ability to mimic other people’s voices. I can’t say why, but it’s actually pretty disturbing.

Finally we have Chise. Chise comes from Japan. Basically she acts as an observer of the ‘Commonwealth’ spies. She does go on missions with the girls as well. Chise is really great with a katana. Chise feels like a ‘fish out of water’ character.

And those are all the characters I want to discuss. There are more I could bring up, but those five are the only ones who are in ‘White Pigeon’.

Each episode, until the very last two, involve the girls going on random missions. The funny thing is, the episodes are kind of mixed up. The first episode takes place in the future, after the ‘White Pigeons’ are a team. Then it goes back to when the girls first meet each other, then there’s an episode where the girls are all acquainted with each other, before going back in time and showing us how the girls met Chise.

It’s an odd choice, but I’m not complaining.

So with all that said, I recommend checking out this anime! It has three OVA’s called ‘Crown Handler’ and I plan on talking about those as well!

Thanks for reading!
Take care!

GIRLS und PANZER: THIS IS THE REAL ANZIO BATTLE

So in the original ‘GIRLS und PANZER’ series, there were a few things that we didn’t get to watch or get more information about. The first thing involves the ‘Hall Monitor’s’ joining the ‘Oarai Tankery’ club. Or how the actual battle between ‘Oarai’ and ‘Anzio’ went down.

We do see who the winner of that match is in ‘episode seven’, but between you and me. I felt a bit cheated when that episode aired. I wanted to know more about ‘Anzio’ and how their match actually went.

So that’s why I’m really glad this OVA exists! Not only do we get to see how the fight happened, but we also get a few other questions answered. So with that said, let’s talk about this OVA!

‘GIRLS und PANZER: THIS IS THE REAL ANZIO BATTLE’ is about the battle between ‘Anzio’ and ‘Oarai’. We get to see how the girls prepared for the match and learn a little more about one member of the ‘hippo’ team.

So incase anyone is wondering. This episode takes place during ‘Episode 7’ of the regular series. We do see how the ‘Hall Monitors’ are recruited to join the tankery club and we see that it wasn’t exactly their decision. We also get another segment where Yukari sneaks over to ‘Anzio’s’ school in order to gain information about them.

The funny thing about this scouting mission, is that it feels like it’s more about food then the tanks.

The funny thing about ‘Anzio’ is that they are almost like ‘Oarai’. They don’t have a lot of money to buy tanks, but they manage to get by simply by skipping snack time from three times a day, to two times. Which makes me wonder how much money is spent on snacks.

Also in this OVA we spend some time with the ‘Hippo team’. They are the history buffs. One of the members named Caesar is given a bit of a spotlight. Caesar actually has a friend who’s attending ‘Anzio’ and she didn’t want to contact her friend in order to gain intelligence on the school.

Now that I’m thinking about it. ‘Anzio’ and ‘Oarai’ seem to have a lot in common. They both don’t seem to have much of a budget and they both like to use little tricks in order to win. Though ‘Anzio’ doesn’t seem to be that great at it.

So the last thing I really have to talk about is ‘Anchovy’, the commander of ’Anzio’. Anchovy might seem like she’s another ‘Katyusha’, but she’s actually pretty cool for a commander. Not only does she shake Miho’s hand when they meet, but after the match she even congratulates everyone from ‘Oarai’ and invites them all to dinner. Of course she’s not the only commander who does this, but it’s still pretty nice.

So with that said, I do recommend checking out this OVA. It’s fun seeing everything that went into ‘Oarai’s’ preparation for their match with ‘Anzio’, but it was also cool to see what Anchovy is all about. This OVA isn’t the last time we’ll see Anchovy!
